Punta Negra (Black Spot)

Punta Negra is a dive site located at Cape Pinar. You can dive the deep route, with a maximum depth of around 25 m. Following the normal route, you’ll dive at a maximum depth of between 18 and 22 m, depending on your level. Finally, there’s the Scuba Diver route, on top of the platform, with a maximum depth of 12 m. The dive can be done with the boat anchored inside the cove next to Punta Negra and above the platform, or as a one-way dive towards Swiss Cheese or Temple.

The dive usually starts inside the cove, on top of the platform, which lies at a depth of 3–4 m within the cove and reaches 12 m as you exit. Upon leaving the cove, a slope of Posidonia oceanica unfolds, typically with a very gentle current that attracts a wide variety of marine life. This slope descends to approximately 25–28 m, where scattered white gorgonians can be found next to the sandy bottom. Following the coastline past Punta Negra, you’ll reach a wall with a swim-through (arch, tunnel) at a depth of around 20 m. On the platform, there are several arches and a multitude of holes in the rock that invite moray eels and octopuses to settle.
