In the SSI Scuba Diver you are going to learn the fundamental knowledge about scuba diving and master the basic skills. The three theory chapters are teaching you about the underwater environment, the concept of buoyancy, the pressure under water and how your body is affected as well as the different parts of your scuba equipment.
After 3 sessions (one morning or afternoon) of confined water or pool training, you are going to master the basic safety skills and will be able to move comfortably through the water.
While finishing your course, you are finally going to gain some experience during two open water dives.

En el curso de buceo Open Water Diver aprenderás toda la teoría y todas las habilidades necesarias para poder planear y realizar inmersiones con un compañero del mismo nivel o mas avanzado de forma cómoda y segura hasta 18m de profundidad.
Después de 6 sesiones (divido en dos mañanas o tardes) de aguas confinadas o piscina, realizaras 4 inmersiones en aguas abiertas para mostrar y practicar las habilidades aprendidas. También aplicarás los conocimientos ganados durante las sesiones de teoría.

¿Para quien es el SSI Open Water Diver?
El curso de buceo Open Water Diver es el curso de buceo correcto para ti, si las siguientes características describen el tipo de buceo o inmersión que buscas/quieres hacer:

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the requirements to join the entry-level diving courses?
You must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 12 years old.
- Recomendamos haber realizado un Try Scuba, Basic Diver, o bautismo de buceo similar.
- Be physically fit to practice diving. This must be accredited through the RSTC form or with a valid medical certificate (valid for two years up to 45 years of age, then one year)
- Create/Have a mySSI account.
What do I have to study?
Para el inicio del curso te hacemos llegar el material didáctico digital de nuestra agencia certificadora SSI. Tendrás que estudiar el material en casa. También te puedes unir a nuestras sesiones de clases virtuales online. Durante la parte practica haremos un repaso de los materiales para resolver dudas y profundizar los conocimientos obtenidos.
How many students are there per instructor? Can a private course be done?
En promedio de nuestros cursos de nivel inicial se hacen con 2 participantes por instructor. Maximo llevamos 4 alumnos por instructor.
If you are a closed group, or prefer to learn on your own with an instructor, you can book a private or VIP course with us.
What is the validity of my diving title/certificate?
Los títulos de buceo del nivel inicial de SSI (Scuba Schools International) están certificados por la normativa ISO y reconocidos a nivel mundial.
Where do we meet for the dives, how do I get to the diving center?
For all our activities we meet at the diving center at the time indicated in your booking confirmation. We recommend that you arrive 5 to 10 minutes early. Customers arriving late 10 minutes or more, may be denied boarding.
The diving center is located in Av. Mal Pas 1, 07400 Alcudia, Mallorca (link to Google Maps). Parking is possible on the streets near the diving centre where there is no yellow line. There is also a paid car park a 3 minutes walk away from the diving center.
Los clientes que no disponen de coche propio o de alquiler, pueden llegar en Bus hasta la parada «Es Mal Pas» que se encuentra a pocos metros del centro de buceo. Taxis desde Alcúdia y Port d’Alcúdia suelen costar alrededor de 10 €, Playa de Muro alrededor de 15 € y Puerto Pollença y Can Picafort/Son Baulo alrededor de 20 €.

Can I bring a passenger on the boat?
During the courses we do not recommend taking passengers as a family member or friend can mean additional stress for the student. Regardless of that, it is possible that they get on the boat to do another activity such as snorkel excursion.
Can I join the diving course without previous experience?
We do not recommend that you join the diving course without previous experience. We have designed our activities so that you can try diving with a Diving experience without a certificate and continue with the course afterwards.
What happens if I don't pass the practicals or final exam?
The courses are planned as intensive courses. If you are unable to overcome the skills in the scheduled time, we can add an additional dive for practice as a courtesy.
If you fail the final exam you have a second attempt to make up for it.
If after taking the above steps you are unable to meet the completion requirements, you have the option of booking additional classes in another beginner level course or with a private instructor.
